Primary Endpoint Met In Daclizumab Phase II Trial
Biogen Idec and PDL BioPharma announced that the ongoing CHOICE trial, a Phase 2, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of daclizumab, met its primary endpoint in relapsing MS patients being treated with interferon beta. Subjects receiving daclizumab 2 mg/kg subcutaneously every 2 weeks showed a statistically significant reduction in the number of new or enlarged gadolinium-contrast-enhancing lesions at week 24.
Daclizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the IL-2 receptor on activated T cells. Study results will be submitted for presentation at an upcoming medical meeting later this year. Based on a joint review of the 24-week data, the companies plan to initiate a Phase 2 monotherapy trial of daclizumab.

Restless Leg Syndrome
Nearly every MS sufferer I know exhibited Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) a few years before they first exhibited enough symptoms of MS to warrant a visit to a neurologist, at which time they were diagnosed with MS. In fact, when I first saw a neuro (pre-diagnosis), he mentioned that my RLS was one of the tip-offs that I had MS.
The commercials for Requip say NOTHING about MS, nor does it advise that RLS sufferers see a neurologist about their symptoms.
Have any of you had RLS? What are your general comments about RLS?

RLS
I had RLS in my left for a long time while the leg got worse and worse (all this was after my diagnosis). Finally I was deemed to have converted to SPMS, and by then had a very bad ankle and foot paralysis. Now the right is restless. I hope it does not go the same way. My left hand and arm are now affected. The thing is, pot, or the drug that Bayer sells here, that subs for Sativex, only as a pill, stop the restlessness. One puff stops it cold. You don't get enough with Cesamet (the Bayer drug) to get high. It helps me sleep, too. It's another symptom-only drug, but it works for me. Haven't tried Requip or Sativex yet. THC is supposed to be neuroprotective but I don't take it in large enough quantity or often enough to make any difference there.
Didn't have RLS till after diagnosis.
