MS and IBD concomitance

Discovering which disease travel together (if you get one, you have a higher chance of having the other) can lead to clues about how each of them works. This study found that there was a much higher risk for MS (and several other diseases) was observed in IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) patients compared with controls.
I'm guessing they would also find that these diseases travel close together in family members - while I have MS, I have a close relative with Crohn's (related to IBD).

Art, would this be an interesting question for a poll? See how many out there have MS with a blood relative who has Crohn's? Just an idea :)

How wild - I made the same comment to a friend the other day! My sister has Crohn's. My mother has ITP (blood disorder)and diabetes. I've pretty much decided that we all have autoimmune issues from my mom's side of the family.

I have MS and have had recent issues with Anal Fistuals, which I was told may be associated with autoimmune diseases. I wondered if others with MS have experianced the same issue?
